ODD CASE: boot screen resized

Hi everybody!
Here's my problem:
It's about two weeks since my laptop started to behave
strangely at startup. The screen containing the XP
logo looks resized, not full screen as usual. I tried
disabling the logo using the /sos switch in the
proper line of the "boot.ini" file. The drivers are loaded
correctly, but still the shell (how do I call that?) isn't at
full screen like it used to do. The same applies to the
chkdsk blue screen. Apart from this, the video card is
ok, there are'nt hardware conflicts and all the appz work
fine. The only exception is the main window of a popular
Zone game using Directx8, it's resized too. Besides, the
game runs normally at any screen resolution...
Tried to reinstall the video drivers yet, but it didn't fix
the problem. I wonder what it can be...
No significant changes were made recently in my
configuration. I run Windows XP sp2 on a IBM
Thinkpad R32.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I found the solution by myself. In many laptops there
should be some control to enable/disable the feature:
"screen expansion".
Mine had been surprisingly disabled (I can't say exactly
why, but it happened). Enabling screen expansion from
the configuration utility solved this issue.
