Odd behaviour

Since installed Norton 2002 I have been having problems saving files from
the web.
Any exe or zip files I try saving to disk has it's extension changed to
exe.x or zip.x.
Of course I can always delete the extra .x from the file name and save it
anyways but it is just annoying and I would like to change it so I can save
files normally again.
Any ideas?
