(The ODBC Manager or Administrator file is locked. Please
close all applications and run setup again.)

This is the message that I get when trying to load some
software. The software was previously loaded on my
machine before the new security patches. I am running
windows 2000 pro. How do I get around this? The IT
department said that I would have to get with the software
manufacturer and they say it has to be with the new
securtiy patches.

I had some problems, an actual system crash when installing all the
patches a few weeks ago. No data lost, but a lot of work since I had not
taken the time to do drive backup yet. I also run programs that use
ODBC. When I redid my machine I only installed SP4, now I have the
RCP-vunerability installed as well, but no other patches. Since I have
not experimented I can't say what patches caused my problems or if they
are in any way related to yours. The fact is however that patches can
render other software unusable. I would recommend uninstalling the
patches and reinstalling them one after one and between each test if
your application is running. Also, have you tried to run the ODBC
manager on its own?

I'd be interested in hearing more about this if you investigate further.
