Try making it as a DSNLess connection by making it as a
File DSN on your computer then relinking. This way it
copies the DSN information into the Linked table and your
other users will not require their own DSN to be created
on their PCs. Be carefull though because if you choose
save password it is pretty easy to find the system table
that will display it. Depends on how sensitive your data
is. If you still get an error you have at least ruled out
that your bosses DSN is setup wrong. Now you can test if
he has an outdated MDAC (SQL Server?) or posibly he does
not have permissions to the data source.
