On its own the Vertex 3 could be the perfect SSD. OCZ whipped up a great recipe, price, speed, and the accessory package. ($249.99 for the 120GB / $539.99 for the 240GB / 120GB Max IOPS for $310 / 240GB Max IOPS for $556) The only thing left to do was bake the cake; this is where OCZ spilled part of the batter. The form factor issue will be resolved but a few have already tasted something bitter. Luckily we are not talking e. Coli, just a stomach ache.
Once you get past the form factor issue you have a SSD that costs half of what last year’s model did at launch and is capable of twice the performance. That’s the kind of hope and change we can vote for. Product of the year? We'll see. What you should buy right now? Yep.
