I have a copy of Textbridge Pro v8 that was supplied with an Epson scanner.
It works fine for documents that have been scanned, but for any other jpgs,
bmps or gifs it bawls that the image is not in the right format. Looks like
this prog was hamstrung?

Anyone know a solution, or point me to an alternative prog?

Basically, I need occasionally to extract sections of text from images.

TIA

Do you know what graphic format Textbridge uses?
The program controls the scanning or you have to scan the documents with
another program?

Well the probable answer is: Convert the jpg, bmp or gif to tiff.
Because that's the format the Textbridge program uses.

I used SimpleOCR for the first time this week, and it did an
outstanding job on a multiple- xeroxed document with scribbling on the
pages

Usually, I'd chuck in a "told you so" at this point, but it's my birthday
and I'm feeling benevolent to all mankind, so I won't.
