Hi,

I am setting up a new ADSL modem/router and am unable to
link if I set TCP/IP to "Obtain an IP address
automatically", if I manually configure it it is OK and I
can get a connection. I am running XP and a Zoom modem.
Any thought?

Paul,
Is your modem should be set up to get the ip addresses
automatically from the internet service provider, you
need to set your windows xp machine to look to that modem
as the DHCP Server. If you have already enabled the
networking features in XP to automatically obtain the ip
lease from the dhcp server you need to check and see if
your zoom modem is broadcasting as the dhcp server for
your network. you might have to telnet/hyperterminal to
that modem if you can and check the setting from it.
most of those modems/routers come with a disk that helps
you set this up.
