obnoxious app

My son downloaded a video subscription service as a trial the other day
and now an obnoxious dialog opens occasionally without any way to close
it short of the Task Manager. I've run various malware detection tools
to no avail. Can someone point me to a method of tracking this devil
down and killing it mercilessly?

OS: Win 2K 5.00.2195 SP4 Build 2195

Often these things can be found in the registry:
\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
or maybe in the Startup folder in menus, also could be a service

Unfortunately, Windows provides lots of places to hide these things.
There are a few programs that will help you manage your startup. Maybe
this site will help:
