Objects in AD with a $ on the end

We migrated some time ago to a new domain away from our old domain. we had a
trust as we moved away, and now we are separate.
as a result, when I go into my AD structure, I see a large number of objects
that have $ on the end . for example, when I run a script to show me all the
PC's in my AD, then I get all the PC's and servers but I also get all of them
again with a $ on the end, TWIUSMECWSSMS01$.
I dont know what these are nor do I know how to get rid of them. I have had
advice to not just delete them. however, I don't know what they are.
any help would be great!
