When I insert video clips and go to edit the clips the image display of the clip reduces to a size smaller than what I have made them. Any help appreciated.

Hi Steve,

I've noticed video clips typically insert at approximately
83% original size in PPT 2000.

Right click on your video object, click on format picture,
select the Size tab and change the percentage to 100%.
Click ok.

This will set it to your original size. You can also
choose best size for show.

PPT 2003 typically brings the video in 100% and has a zoom
to full screen option.

I am actually inserting the video clips as objects and then choosing
video for windows or direct show. Then I can further edit my video clips.
The problem occurs when I edit the clip and go back to play the clip
outside of the edit program. I will have already made my clip fit the
screen, but after it plays once the image reduces, but my original box
shows margins where they were originally set.

When you insert things as objects, you're essentially telling PowerPoint
"You don't know or care what this is. When I click it during a show, I
want you to do whatever Windows would ordinarily do if I doubleclicked the
file in Explorer"

How big is the original clip when played back by doubleclicking its file
this way? Same as from PPT, I'd guess.
Is the problem that I can't further edit clips in powerpoint? Any help
anyone.

PowerPoint doesn't have any video or sound or image editing features, it
simply calls up the program that "owns" these files on your system.
