I receive the following area from clicking on various links. I have the
latest updates for all MS products. I do run IE 6 and have cleared cookies,
deleted all files, deleted all off-line files, cleared the history, and
cleared the SSL. I have tried to fixed this by adjusting my security settings
to various levels and have reset them to the default. I also run Norton
Internet Security 2004 along with Norton anitvirus. I have done a disk
cleanup and deframentation both with Windows XP programs and with Norton
Systemworks 2004. This has become a annoying development, to say the least! I
am including a link that gave me the response:

I started experiencing this problem after installing SP2 and if this is not
resolved soon I will be forced to jump ship to another explorer type program.

I forgot to add more info. I do not have one iota of spyware on my PC! I am a
VERY secure PC user and run lavasoft on a daily, if not more, basis. I am
up-to-date with security issues via Symantec, US Homeland Security Division,
and Microsoft. I am very TECHIE and I feel that this is an issue with SP2
and I do hope MS resolves this soon!

Hi,
Does this problem occur if you disable all Norton software? NIS may need an
update to work with XP SP2.

Hi Don

I did disable NIS 2004 and everything started working. I will address this
with Symantec to see if they have a fix. Also, if you have any suggestions I
would appreciate them. I don't like to disable NIS 2004 since that defeats
its' purpose. I do everything I can to avoid Symantec since their response
time is so slow and I refuse to pay them for something they and I am sure MS
could have tested.

According to the XP SP2 faq at http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/sp2/faq.html
there is an update for NIS which adds compatibility with the XP Security
Center. I don't think that this update will solve your problem.

Have you tried reinstalling NIS after the XP SP2 update?

Hi Don!

Thanks again for your input. I did reinstall NIS and NSW 2004 after the SP2.
I have gotten a response from Symantec, in a short period of time which that
is a first for them, and they advised me to reset my adblocking and privacy
control settings. I did exactly what they suggested and to no avail. I just
sent them a reply stating that this is an issue. I will let you know how this
turns out!

Well lookie-there. It appears that disabling Norton's Internet Security
fixed the problem. And they say that Internet Security 2004 is compatible
with SP2. Hmmmmm...... I am beginnning to think I wasted my money on
Norton's except that the virus scanner has snagged 4 infected emails today
alone. Hmmmmm....

Guess it is time to start nagging Symantec. Bet that gets me about as far
as jumping on an ant's back and saying move me three feet.

Thanks Don!

Hi All -
(Running XP-Home, NIS2004, IE6) I, too, have been plagued by an 'object
moved' annoyance for about 6-8 weeks (I'm guessing....could be a little
longer) now. However, although all other XP/NIS/IE6 updates had been done,
I had refrained from installing XP SP2 until a few days ago, so I'm certain
in my case it was not an XP/NIS compatibility issue. (As a matter of fact, I
had been hoping that SP2 was going to be the 'fix' (which it wasn't.) I'm
wondering, therefore, if perhaps it's solely a NIS issue and just
co-incidental to many of you having installed SP2 around the same time at it
started happening. I can't be at the machine in question until later this
evening, at which time I'm going to shut off NIS and see if it solves the
problem. [As a side note... probably unrelated, but one never knows... there
was a patch for IE6 SP1 on Microsoft site that I thought might address this
issue; however, every time I tried to install the patch, I received an error
message stating it couldn't be installed because IE6 SP1 had to be installed
first (which it already was!). However, to 'accommodate' the 'patch' error,
I tried to re-install IE6 SP1 and of course I then got the error that it
couldn't be installed because it already was! The point is, the installation
of the patch didn't recognize that IE6 SP1 was already installed, but the
[re] installation attempt of the IE6 SP1 did.]
