Object Library Not Registered - Office 2000

Brenda

Excel 2000 has recently started giving me the following error message when I
open it (without opening any Excel files):

"Object library not registered".

If I click OK, Excel opens up with no problem.

Not sure what has suddenly caused this -- any thoughts, anyone?

Thank you,
~Brenda

Brenda,

Close Excel, then go to the Windows Start menu, choose Run, and
enter

Excel.exe /unregserver

Then, in the same Run dialog,

Excel.exe /regserver

Finally, open Excel normally.

I originally have Office 2000 installed. I upgraded to Office 2003. Upon opening Excel 2003, I get the messagebox "Object Library Not Registered" when the app is trying to open ATPVBAEN, FUNCRES,EUROTOOL and HTML. I click OK every time and Excel opens. I followed the solution detailed below but still have the same problem. Any suggestion? I have both Excel 2000 and Excel 2003 installed on my computer. Is this a problem?

Regards
Betty

Since you have two versions of excel on your harddrive, you may want to be more
specific about which version of excel you're re-registering.

I'd use Windows start button|Search (or find) and look for excel.exe

Since my excel.exe was found in "c:\msoffice\office10", I'd do something like:

"c:\msoffice\office10\excel.exe" /unregserver
and
"c:\msoffice\office10\excel.exe" /regserver

I'd do both versions (4 commands total). But the order you run them is
important. The last one registered will be the one that windows uses when you
double click on a .xls file in explorer.
