Object Invalid or no longer set error

I have an extensive Access Database which we use on
several computers running Office XP with no problems. We
have also operated it on this hardware for more than a
year with no problems. We had a hard disk failure and
replaced the drives. This required a complete
reinstallation of XP professional and Office XP. The
problems started immediately after the reinstallation.
All XP and office updates have been installed.

The problem is that on the second time I go to and return
from some forms I get an "Object Invalid or no longer
set" message

At the same time all the table entries on the subform
have an #Name? instead of the value.

On the form "On Activate" I have a procedure that has

Me.Recalc

This is causing the problem.

I have also tried to replace the instruction with a

Me.Requery and this also cause the same problem.

Any ideas. I am stumped as this problem was not there
until I did the reinstall and I can not duplicate this
problem on another XP machine with apparently the same
version of XP and Access installed.

This error message is addressed in Jet 4 SP7, according to:
us;282010

Not sure that is the issue, but worth a shot.

Thanks I agree it sounds like somehow the Jet engine is
not working properly or is corrupted

How do I determine which version of Jet the system has
and how do I reinstall it.

The update page does not list the update so I assume it
is in one of the service packs.

Find the file msjet40.dll on your disk - usually in windows\system32.
Right-click and choose properties.

If you have Jet 4 SP7, the version should be 4.0.7328.

Thanks for all the good suggestions.

I uninstalled and the jet engine and got the windows
update and reinstalled it. Also checked that it had the
correct version.

I continue to have the problem on this one machine on a
me.recalc on the forms activate.

To check this out I installed a new button which when
clicked has me.recalc

In theory this should work without problems.
However this button causes the "object invalid or no
longer set" after I first go to a subform.

It would apear that somehow the relationship between the
form and the subforms is being lost.

Any suggestions on where I should look next.
