I have a compaq system bought with XP installed and
something called nview. in the last few months this nview
animal has become a real nuisance creating endless popups
when i right-clock on the menu bar and also creating
problems with downloading updates. For example when
trying to download the latest Windows security patch I
get a message saying that ther is a problem with
the 'self-extracting cabinet' whatever that is. And
following the tracks from the 'tell microsoft about this
problem' thingy i get taken to an nview site which
proudly tells me they dont deal directly with the public.
Too right they dont.
Is this nView mongrel essential or can i disable it and
if i do will it stop the problems?
I only use graphic functions for word-processing, fax,
and digital pics and have no interest in games. There are
nview drivers to be downloaded but i am scared to do so
in case i make matters worse - needless to sat the local
Microsoft help desk takes 25 minutes to answer and is
unhelpful
