NVIDIA's next high-end GPU to support TurboCache

Cool!
one thing i wonder is why Nvidia and ATI always release superior technology for consoles, rather than come out with the same GPUs for PCs.

That PS3 is going to kick ass.

Things have changed - Consoles used to be based on old technology, but being used efficiently to give good results. Example - the Xbox is 700MHz and the PS2 i think 200MHz. And thats it.

Consoles now use brand new technology, and use it efficiently - and are expective to give mind blowingly good results. And this PS3 has a GFX card faster than dual 6800 Ultras in SLI. Crazy!

the graphics card for the PS3 is nvidia based, so... why dont they come out with it for computers?
is it cause they are afraid that a SLI setup will dominate? :D
computers are left in the dust when a new console comes out, but iw will surpass it eventually...
on anouther note, is saw a thread on a diffrent forum titled " PC games are Dead" with the release for new consoles! it think thats rubbish, but what do you think? im kinda afraid for the future of PC gaming, but it will endure. :) hopefully

not many PC users want a high end gaming system, to them thats what consoles are for so manufacturers focus on making consoles better than PC's at gaming

Well, you know there are people who like to have the best of the best. take the 2x Geforce 6800 Ultra 512mb. most PC users dont need that kinda power, but its there for those who want it. :D
Who does Turbo cache work?

PC Gamers would soon be declared an endangered species :D Please don't flame me as I am simply trying to analyse the current scenario, agree the PC keeps updating more frequently but to keep up with a consoles for quality will cost PC Gamers to spend a fortune. The consoles are what? £200 or maybe max £300 and that by any standard is cheap enough to own one.

I wonder how many would today be willing to pay £100 for the old XBox.

How true you are Quad :(
i was a console gamer still am but not really, now im a deticated Pc gamer and proud of it :).
speaking of do you think that this is the last generation of PC gamers or will we endure? not to blow this out of proportion but 2006 is going to be a bad year for PC gaming...

Lets be realistic, the Xbox was first high end machine introduced which was a true competitor for PS2, now the competition is tougher between the two, in the end the consumer gets the benefit, look at what they are offering, three 3.2 Ghz procs insted of one in original and so much more. I really don't see any point in PC Gamers trying to compete in quality. Yes there are many games still there which may only be available on just PC but any mid price PC would take care of that instead of spending a fortune in so many things required for PC.

I believe the ratio of expenditure was 1:4 before in favour of consoles, now it looks like the same has changed to 1:10 in favour of consoles, what I mean is, one might have to spend 10 times as much on PC to get anywhere close to console quality.

All the above is my personal observation based on the specs of what I saw on the website of xbox 360.

What do you think? Alf?

its going to be more like -4:10 :D
indeed, but i guess we just have to hold out :)
