Is it possible to overclock your nvidia graphics card with cool bits or
rivatuner? I have read mixed rewiews on the subject.anyone sucessfully OCed
their Nvidia GPU?

Most people are still trying to get the video card to act as per
specification and you are worried about over clocking with unfinished
drivers. Do you like pain?

Glutting for punishment! Always ...LOL

Are you talking about OCing under Vista or in General. I've OC'd a 6800GT
before, but at the end of the day. The most I ever got was about 5-8 more
fps. OCing a Video card, tends not to have the same benefits as OCing, CPU
and memory.

Now some people (like me) have bought ATI X800 plain cards, and if it's the
right make and model, you can convert it from a 12 pipe to 16 pipe card and
flash it with a X800XT-PE bios and get some actually gains out of it. Of
course, it's a bit of a risk, since if one of those other 4 pipes are
defective, then you're going to have a defective card

a 6200 is bottom of the barrel card for gaming. Even if you were able to
overclock it by 75 more Mhz, I don't think the card by it's design has
enough juice to do anything useful. it lacks the pipes and the memory to be
a solid card (of course, that's up to personal interpretation)

I suspect after about 50Mhz, you're going to see some screen corruption and
if you're running the stock Heatsink\Fan, then heat will be an issue. Unless
it's a BFG card, they make some good heatsinks for their cards, but since
they already OC'd the card, you're not going to get much more out of it.

Sorry, you don't have the 6200. I was looking at the post blow yours and had
it in mind. Which card do you have ?

Richard makes a great point. I just installed the Nvidia 101.41 drivers,
finally have SLI working with my two 7950Gt cards, but my 3D graphics
experience rating went down from 5.9 with only one card working to 5.8
with both!

For the hard core enthusiast, we have been overclocking our 8800 series card
in Vista for a while now. All you have to do is figure out what speed you
want to be at, use nbitor to create a custom BIOS for the card, and flash
the video card. Instant overclocking in Vista! My XFX 8800GTS came stock at
513 core and 796 memory, it is running right now at 600 and 925 respectively
in Vista Ultimate. I determined those speeds from running under XP for a
bit.

Yes I have been looking at some mobo over clocking to bypass vista all
together.I have a asus a8n32-sli deluxe cool pipe with lots of over clocking
options. I managed to get the same performance as in XP.

I found the answer to the problem.Ntune
http://www.nvidia.com/object/sysutility.html It is vista compatible
.(run in admin mode) Allows you to do what ever software overclocking you
want.

hope this helps also!

Have two (2) NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX cards working in SLI
in a Dell XPS 600 machine.

Are these considered, NFORCE products as described in the
Adobe reader for NVnTune50_UGv11[1].pdf ?

No they are NVIDIA products and most of the time adapted to theire suitings.
However sometimes drivers of Geforce are useable.
If you make an system restore point before try them out,
you should be able to return to the old situation in case it doesn't work
for you.

Just an older generation (78 years) asking.

Thanks for your replies,

Thanks RoB for your reply.

Still a bit confused though. What devices make up a NFORCE product then?

Again thanks for the assist to confused and old drybones.

Nforce is nVidia line of motherboards. I have the abit K8N which is based on
nVidia Nforce 4 Ultra motherboard design, this spec can inlude PCI-express,
networking, On-board Audio and\or graphics, IDE\SATA etc etc.
