nVidia NF4 SATA RAID Installation: Well THAT didn't work.

I tried every possible installation scenario. The Vista drivers from nVidia
do not work. The RAID is never visible, whether during installation or
afterwards.

It is visible from XP Pro X64, and so Vista will "pretend" to see it when
installing from an existing OS, but it doesn't really see it. Its all just a
trick meant to fool the end-user into thinking they might be able to install
Vista successfully.

Ha, ha. nVidia you got me this time. Good one. But you know what they
say: "Fool me once, shame on you, ...."

Randy:
With beta 2 Nvidia raid was functional, with RC1 5600 Nvidia raid
was corrupted, with RC1 5728 Nvidia raid loads as part of the operating
system and functions normally.

I appreciate the suggestion. Based upon your input I may try. I agree it is
nVidia's responsibility for the drivers, not Microsoft's.

I did not contact them for two reasons:
1) I have never had even "fair" tech support, let alone "good" from a
third-party vendor
2) I am left with the impression from using nVidia's Web site that they are
NOT helpful. Witness the lack of substantive material of almost any type.
Contrast that with ATI, who again is not particularly helpful, but whose Web
site is far more informative. The thought being, "gosh, if ATI is this
unhelpful and their Web site actually pretends to be kinda helpful, just
imagine how bad it must be with nVidia."

I do not believe that NVIDIA will produce SATA RAID drivers for Windows
Vista until they have a copy of the RTM. Probably upon release of Vista then
NVIDIA will release a driver.

regards
Robert
