Hi all
My system is as follows

Windows XP SP1 (all patches up to date)
Nvidia GF3 Ti200
Nforce 1 motherboard

My question is, I recently installed the driver update dated Oct 16,2003 ( I
believe) which resulted in 10 second pauses ( I see a blinking cursor
top-left corner for 10 secs) between switching resolution on the video card
( ie. alt-tab from a game running in 800x600 in Direct 3D) where before the
switch was instantanious. I was so annoyed with the "enhancement" I had to
roll back the drivers which reverted to the older driver set ( which did not
exhibit the problem).

Has anyone experienced the same? if so, is there a fix?
Also, how does this version ever passed the certification process with this
issue?

Thank you in advance.

Mark

I recall having problems with the Nvidia update offered through Windows
update, I don't recall what they were. I went to Nvidia's website and
downloaded the latest drivers and they worked quite well. If you tried the
MS download, you may want to do what I did.

I run a Geforce 4 Ti4200 and since my recent CPU speed boost thanks to
getting rid of the device got stuck in an infinite loop problem by disabling
APIC mode in BIOS - I have my XP 1700 CPU overclocked to XP 2400 speed on
the 166fsb again - not since the problems started when I had to enable APIC
mode to run my 40gb image of XP which was installed with APIC enabled have I
had such power - that was March 2003 almost 9 months ago and I tasked myself
with getting my baby back up to the speed with I had long since missed.

3D Mark 2001se score of 12,400 was my personal best set in March 2003 when I
had last had APIC disabled and the CPU was at 12.5 * 166 2088mhz so I was
looking to get around 12,000 at 2005mhz .

In the 9 months since those heady says of fast stability I was forced into
running at 133 * 12 for the measly 1667mhz and my 3D Mark was a mere 10010
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6605173 and with the MSI driver
based on the nvidia 41.09. Disabling APIC mode had involved re-installing XP
so it came to pass that drivers needed to be installed - I got the latest
52.16 from nvidia my 3D Mark was a disasterous 10637!
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7257834 with a 2005mhz CPU
nooowayyy!!!

So I removed them and put the 43.45 drivers on which I had also used back in
the good old days and was satisfied when the 3D Mark 2001se of 11700 was
recorded http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7258756
