Does anyone know of a driver for this video card? I'm using vista beta 2.
Thanks in advance.

Hi!

I'm running Vista Beta 2 with EN7900GTX 512 MB video card from ASUS and it
works very well.
I'm using the nvidia graphics driver included in Vista Beta 2.

Aero Glass is wonderful!

And with the 30 inches LCD from Dell at the resolution 2560X1600, it is a
lot more wonderful.

Bonne journée! Roger

All I get is the standard vga driver and cant run aero. Any help would be
appreciated. thanks

Hi!

During Vista installation, I did not do anything to use the nvidia driver
and to get Aero Glass.
So, Vista recognized my graphic card.

Here are the properties I have for my display adapter (I took them in Device
Manager):

Device description : %NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0290.1%
Driver provider : NVIDIA
Driver Date : 2006-04-27
Driver version : 6.14.10.8798
Digital signer : microsoft windows component publiser

I know that some graphic cards are not yet supported by Vista.
An example is EN7950GX2.
I suggest you try the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor beta to see if your
graphic card is supported by Vista.
You can find the advisor here :
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/upgradeadvisor/default.mspx

Bon vendredi! Roger

Vista only installs a standard vga driver which is very basic and I have no
features nor the correct resolution. This is really puzzling.

When I try the advisor I get blue screen and it reboots. So I'm sure it has
to do with a bad driver somehow.

This appears as a known problem since somebody new reports it every day or
two. We just have to wait till Nvidia releases new Vista drivers that
support this new Nvidia card.

That is what I thought I was finally able to run Vista Upgrade. It says that
my graphics card does not support Pixel Shader 2.0 but nvidia clearly states
that is does. Here is an excerpt from nvidia.

"NVIDIA® CineFX® 4.0 Shading Architecture

* Vertex Shaders
o Support for Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0 Vertex Shader 3.0
o Displacement mapping
o Geometry instancing
o Infinite length vertex programs
* Pixel Shaders
o Support for DirectX 9.0 Pixel Shader 3.0
o Full pixel branching support
o Support for Multiple Render Targets (MRTs)
o Infinite length pixel programs
* Next-Generation Texture Engine
o Accelerated texture access
o Up to 16 textures per rendering pass
o Support for 16-bit floating point format and 32-bit floating
point format
o Support for non-power of two textures
o Support for sRGB texture format for gamma textures
o DirectX and S3TC texture compression
* Full 128-bit studio-quality floating point precision through the
entire rendering pipeline with native hardware support for 32bpp, 64bpp, and
128bpp rendering modes..."

So it has to be the lack of a vista driver. I sure do hope that they get
them taken soon. Thanks

It says that since the driver for the card is not up to date and it finds
out that information by asking the driver what it supports.

Do you think RC1 will have more updated drivers or will we have to wait for
nvidia? The only vista drivers on their site support nforce. Hopefully with
the upcoming release of rc1 they nvidia will release a vista driver.

MS only provides drivers that NVIDIA supplies to it and which it MS performs
some tests required for its WHQL. In the past it appears that the new
drivers appeard on the NVIDIA web as Beta drivers at least a month, if not
more, before they were available from MS as part of a release or via
WinUpdate.
