After installing Norton System Works on an XP machine with a ASUS SLI32
motherboard runnning Nvidia Firwall, my outlook express gave an error when
trying to get mail. The only way to fix it was to turn the firewall off and
reboot.

Does anyone know how to fix the Nvidia firewall setting so it can work and
let outlook express get mail? It used to work before I installed Norton
System Works.

Thanks
Randy

What happens if you uninstall Norton? Does your OE work correctly then?
I think you're looking at the wrong suspect.
NVidia Firewall allowed OE to work *before* you installed the Norton
software.
*After installing Norton*, OE no longer works correctly?

After I installed Norton, I went to open outlook express and the firewall
pops up and told me this application was trying to access the internet. I
inadvertainly hit "NO" and now I don't know where to reset it to yes. So
I'm looking for where I would do that with the Nvidia firwall.

Open up nVidia Firewall by right-clicking on the shield in the system tray.
Once you get the Network Access Manager open, click on Firewall/Advanced
Configuration/Application. Look for the application that can't access, it
probably says "Deny" on the far right side, set it to allow. Restart. Let
us know if that works...

Ok Kirbalo,
After reading up on this, it looks like my problem is getting to the nVidia
Network Access Manaager. Evidently this is a web based application and when
I try to access it by clicking on the URL after opening the shield, as you
describ below, I get this page cannot be accessed. Same for any URL the
firewall would direct me to. Before you ask, yes I do have internet access.
After looking the nVidia manual, it does state that it uses "TCP Port 3476"
and to make sure no other application uses that port.

Can any of you tell me where to find that port information and do you think
I need to change something there so this application would then allow access
to their firewall website? BTW this is on the fringes of my computer
knowledge so please bear with me.
Thanks
Randy

Thanks everyone that responded to this. Just so you know I did a fresh
install from the ground up and all is well. Not sure why the firewall was
not working before. It was either because I installed it originally without
an internet connection or after I installed Norton System Works 2006? Oh
well!
