Myself and a close friend recently downloaded the new
nividia driver from the microsoft site and started having
problems with our printer and fax files. The printer and
fax files are loaded on the computer although they do not
show when you open the file. He talked to microsoft
support and found a fix for his computer. I was able to
fix my kids computer with the same process, although my
computer is causing problems. It still has the same
problem, and I also found that the control panel has lost
the add new hardware icon. It will still recognize new
hardware but you cannot add pinters or hardware from
either source in the control panel.
Now it gets complicated, The nividia driver by itself is
not the problem, it is a dual problem with a game called
pacific gunner from infrogrames. With the new nividia
driver and this game, the problem will manifest iteslf
everytime. With either one loaded by itself it will not
cause the problem. My system is the only one causing the
problem and I cannot find a cure. I used the registry to
eliminate all files that I could find associated with
infogrames and pacific gunner to no avail. When I loaded
the game it must have attached itself somewhere that I
cannot find. I even used the recovery disk to repair all
windows files before and after the driver rollback and
system restore efforts.
Any help would be appreciated with this matter, My case #
was SRX031208605376 with Microsoft.
Thanks,
