Hi,

I scanned my computer at the Windows XP update site and
downloaded and installed the Nvidia display driver that
was recommended. Now when my computer starts up the
Windows XP theme 'tune' stops and starts. Once Windows
has booted up everything is OK. This is not a major
problem but it would be good to try and fet it sorted.

I have the latest sound driver installed.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Martin

what is crazy is that Microsoft keeps telling me that the driver update is
available, but it's over a year old, and I have the latest from Nvidia
already installed on my system... seems like it could check and determine
that a later version is already installed...

Try the manufacturer's website to see if they have an updated XP driver for
the video card that you have or restore your system state to a point prior
to the date/time when you installed the video driver.
See this KB article about system restore: 306084 HOW TO: Restore the
Operating System to a Previous State in Windows XP

Use Nvidia drivers, not Microsofts.

It woulde be better to use the Drivers fromthe card manufacturer rather
then Nvidia as the MFG drivers may have support for card features ( Dual
Veiw, TV-in/out ) that the refernce drivers won't support.
