Mr Wiffy

I have a Packard Bell PC with a Nvidia Geforce4 420 GO onboard graphic
processor. I have
installed Sims 2, which keeps crashing shortly after starting the game. The
Readme file for the game recommends updating the drivers for this card,
which I have tried to do, but it will not work. The system keeps reverting
to the generic Windows XP drivers, even though it says the install of the
new drivers has been successful. Is there any way round this problem? Can
I wipe the existing drivers and set the PC to use the new ones from that
point?

I have tried uninstalling the Nvidia package from Add/Remove Program, device
manager, and from the driver self-install program, but it just reverts to
the generic ones when you reboot, and try and install the new ones. Am I
doing something wrong here???

Help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ian

After the uninstall, reboot in Safe Mode (F8 at startup) and then install
the new drivers.

Thanks Cari. I will try that and let you know how I get on.

Many thanks,

Unfortunately, having installed the new drivers, the problem is still there.
It seems to be something with the Graphics Processor in the Laptop.....Back
to square one.

Thanks for your help anyway.
