Well it just came in not 20 mins ago. :D
gonna hook it up and run some benchmarks (Dawn of War 2, Just Cause 2), time to see if my 8800GT still has what it takes compared to the new gen. See you in a bit.

Well here it goes for what its worth.
Dawn of war 2
-1920x1200, Ultra settings-

8800GT:Avg FPS - 28.15
Max FPS - 57.94
Min FPS - 2.9

470 GTX: Avg FPS - 49.94
Max FPS - 104.37
Min FPS - 24.43
Definitely a noticeable improvement while playing.

Just Cause 2
-Optimal settings (maxxed out), AA 4x, AF 16x, 1920x1200-

8800GT : Dark Tower 11.81 fps
Completion time: 161 secs

Desert Sunrise - 16.74 fps
Completion time: 120 secs

Concrete Jungle - 9.54
Completion time: 150 secs

470 GTX : Dark Tower - 26.30 fps
Completion time: 120 secs

Desert Sunrise - 29.94 fps
Completion time: 118

Concrete Jungle - 20 fps
Completion time: 94 secs

Please note that the benchmark mode seems to be capped at 30 fps. Perhaps some tweaking is in order.

Gotta say, this is quite a jump up from my 8800GT. :D Only downside is that its a power hog and runs pretty hot and loud. Hoping someone will release a aftermarket heatsink in the near future as summer is coming soon. :thumb:

I was thinking of taking a few pictures - but i gotta say, I was more interested in getting it up and running. :D

If your interested, this is what i got.

Glad you're pleased with it Alf but I gotta say all the reviews I've read, although acknowledging it performs well, say it is a power hog and runs hot and noisy.

I think if I were to upgrade my graphics now it would have to be an ATI card, which saddens me a little as Nvidia have got it right for about the last seven years compared to ATI.

I dare say there will be several third party coolers available soon cos there is definitely a market for them.

So is Just Cause 2 any good?

Just Cause 2 is a blast. Think GTA 4 ... but more action-y. And the game world is MASSIVE. Decided to Drive around the island... gave up after 2 hours. :D

Plenty of reviews out there, most of them give it a thumbs up.

A couple of things.
Strangely enough when i first installed it with the latest drivers, it was sending audio to my monitor speakers instead of my sound system. A quirky problem quickly solved.

Heat. After a gaming session, the air coming from the card via the back exhaust is really hot. Like REALLY HOT. Kinda worried about my sound card now. :D When are those aftermarket heatsinks coming out?

What sort of temps? Grab GPU-Z to monitor it. :)

Will do, though truth to be told.. Im a little scared to find out. :D

Alright havent played with it on yet.. But from just surfing the net its reading at 60C at 40% fan speed. Will update on what it says when i bother to play games :)

Alright, Played Just Cause 2 for about 30 mins.
GPU Temps 85C
Fan speed 67%

Definitly toasty.

Whats your case and cooling like out of interest?

Still waiting on pics! :D

I have the Lian Li V2100b with 2 120mm exhaust fans and 2 intake.

As for pictures maybe will post some... when I get around to taking them :)
