I had a problem when nv4_disp went into a continuous loop, I downloaded and
replaced the file whch cured that fault, now I get a "paging in a non-paging
area" fault. when I replace the file and try to start windows normally the
same fault occurs.
I have scanned for viruses and found none.
While in this state I can only use 800x600 resolution.
Can anyone please help
TIA

What version of nv4_disp.dll is presently installed? Where did you
obtain the replacement from?

What is the make and model of your graphics card?

Hope this helps.

Hi Gerry,
Many thanks for your prompt response.
nv4_disp.dll V44.03
Cannot remember where I downloaded it from, sorry
Nvidia GEForce2MX/MX400 Graphics card.
I downloaded a new driver (63mb) Version 94.24 from Nvivia site and on
trying to install got the message."Cannot find hardware suitable for this
driver"

tried 44.03
Any further ideas please

Change the Graphics card? Probably an over expensive solution!

Thanks Gerry,
I feared that this might be the final solution, should I avoid Nvidia?

I am not versed in the respective merits of suppliers of graphics cards.

What is the make and model of your motherboard?

I have WindowsXP with SP2 and NvidiaGeForce 2 MX 400HP. My identical problem
with the continuous loop as yours started about a month ago. My event viewer
informed me to update and unfortunately the update was also unsuccessful.
I am still having the problem and at a loss on how to resolve it

Another thought. What happens if you roll back the driver to what is was
before the problem started?

I have tried 3 different drivers all to no avail, can only use the computer
in 800x600 mode by replacing the nv4_disp.dll , if you wish I can send you a
copy of the dll file I am using.
The use of the computer is limited but I can do most jobs with it.

What about the original CD that came with the graphics card?

After I had updated unsuccessfully I did roll back to the original driver
and except for the Nv continuos loop problem at start up from time to time I
have had no other problems. This problem freezes my computer at start up so
I have to switch it off with the power button and restart it. At this second
start all goes OK until the following day. A nuisance.
Thanks Teriel9.

Great. Pity we could not find a more economic solution but one needs to
move on.
