Hi there

Well look at this.
http://www.tomshardware.com/technews/20030911_231735.html

Marketing babble, talking it right.
The 100 miljon users base being especially cute.
I think all those users feel pretty cheated when reading the new HL2
benches.
Look no further NV is going to performe a miracle. A new driver.WOW.

Inproving a more than 60% performance gap between the 9800 an 5900 with a
driver update would be a miracle indeed.

My guess is that NV is gaining time and hoping it will all blow over. We`ll
see.

Bottom line: Wanna play HL2 avoid NV.

What I find hilarious is this general idea that exists out there that nvidia
drivers are better than ati drivers. Nvidia about once a year seems to
release drivers that improve framerates by some incredible 40-60% but
everbody fails to see that the prior nvidia driver before that was holding
them back 40-60% of what the hardware was capable of!

So do you think the newest FX is being held back by bad drivers?

Could be since OGL appears to be as fast or faster then ATI's best.

The problem with nVidias cards is not OpenGL, or D3D. It's Pixel Shaders,
and you can use them in either technology. Slowly. :-P

Time will tell Jack. It's nice to have an opinion though.

It seems like a tradition at Nvidia to release new drivers in the middle of
a product cycle that provide a great increase in frame rates. Nvidia has
done that for years without any of their customers questioning the logic.
Seemed like they would wait for ATI or 3dfx to release a new faster product
and then they would come out with these new drivers with the purpose of
spoiling their competitors new introductions. You have to wonder what if
any, performance nvidia is holding back. I've always felt sorry for those
who forked out the big bucks on an nvidia high end video card release but
having to wait 6 months for the 'real' drivers.

All this, and the general video card public thinks nvidia has the best
drivers. What a master brainwash!!
