for some reason, whenever i log into windows, my numlock is automatically
turned on. i have turned this feature off in the bios, but it seems that
windows is turning the numlock on, and not my bios. as i have a laptop and
the keyboard doesn't have a numlock key, this is very irritating. is there a
setting somewhere in xp that is turning this key on?

thanks,
conor

I don't follow. Laptops don't have numeric keypads, therefore they don't
have any use for a numlock key - you even state that yours doesn't, so I
really don't see the problem.

Are you meaning on an external keyboard?

My numeric keypad is accessed by having the numlock on and pressing the "Fn"
key down, and then using certain keys with numbers on them (in addition to
letters).

OK, scratch the last response. I changed the setting to off per user as well
as for all users. However, when I restart Windows, the setting returns to
the on position. Curioser and curioser.
