One column of my report has alpha-numeric entries, ie CCP-5-01. The column
is formatted as text since I am unable to enter any text if the formatting is
changed to numeric. How can I have this column sort numerically? I
appreciate any suggestions you may have.

What is the number you wish to sort on?
5-01 or 01?

Are the numbers always in the same position in regards to the hyphens?
Is it always one number hyphen 2 numbers?

Ideally I would like to sort alpha and numerical. Here are some sample
entries:

CCP-04-01
CCP-10-05
MPC-01-04
MPC-03-01

What is currently happening is the CCP-10-05 is being listed before the
CCP-04-01. I appreciate you help with this.

There is something else affecting your ordering. numeric characters in a
text string will sort in the same order they would numerically on a character
by character basis. So you should get the order you are wanting.

It shouldn't be before, how did you sort your records?
You can't use the Report RecordSource to sort the report, you need to use
the Sorting And Grouping (In "View" in the tool bar)

There select the field you want to sort by

CCP-04-01 will sort before CCP-10-05 if it is set to ascending. However,
CCP-4-01 will sort after CCP-10-05. Check your data again to determine your
values and how it is sorting.
