Mike

I just tried this on my report and i found that it stops
after 99. When i reach 99 the mubers turn to 02. Is there
a way to make go above 99?

Create a Text Box in the Detail Section of your report
where you want the
numbers to appear. Set the ControlSource property for
the Text Box to "=1"
(without the quotation marks), and set the RunningSum
property to Over All.

I am afraid I cannot duplicate the behavior you describe. Please post back
with more details about your report, your version of Access and anything
else you think would be relevant.

Are there Groups in your report? Are the numbers changing when the Group
changes? Did you set the Running Sum Property to "Over All" or to "Over
Group"?

There are no groups in my report. I set the running sum
to "Over All"
My report gives me a count, but the number after 99 is 02
and it stays on 02 from there on.

I've just tried this with a report with 3033 records and running sum works
fine.

Just lets 'run' this again, Mike.

You put a new text box into the Details section of the report.

You makes sure that it is wide enough for all those numbers to fit in and
that it doesn't disappear off the edge of a column if you have columns set
up. (make the BorderStyle of the text box Solid so that you can see if an
edge disappears.

In the Control Source of the text box you type
=1

In Properties, you set Running Sum to Over All.

Does it still give you problems? Which version of Access do you have? (I'm
using 97)

Sorry, Mike. But without more information about your report, which might
differentiate it from a standard, plain-vanilla,
"row-and-column-in-detail-section" report, I cannot offer you much more than
the stock answer: Make sure that all of your Office/Access service releases
are up-to-date and check http://groups.google.com searching on "running
sum".

Also, check back on this thread later - it is entirely possible that someone
else *has* experienced this behavior and will have the exact solution for
you.

Everyone will wince in sympathy and remember the time that happened to them!
Wait until your number column in a table is too narrow and you see some
number with + in it as Access obliging turns the number into scientific
notation (which, of course, we all understand perfectly!). I thought that
the aliens had landed the first time it happened!
