Numbering Records

Can someone tell me a way to give sequential numbers
for use in records in queries or in reports?

For reports, one could probably build some code in a module
using global variables that are updated by the OnFormat events
for each section of the report. But I hope there's an easier way!

Access has so much automation built-in, I'm surprised that
I wasn't able to easily find a way to do this.

You can number records in a report by using the RunningSum property with a
text box. For a "how-to", open Access Help and in the Answer Wizard, just
type: runningsum
