I am using Excel 2000 on Windows 2000 with a standard
keyboard. On the number pad the comma types as a period.
Is there a way of changing it to a comma?

Where is the comma on your 'standard' keypad?
On my standard UK keypad there is a full stop, but no comma.
It sounds to me as though you have an incompatibility between the type of
keyboard and the version of Excel. I have UK keyboard and English Excel. If
you have, say, a French keyboard I would have expected that you would have
French Excel. The point is, there's more than one 'standard'.

You could also try monkeying about with the Regional
Options in Control Panel, its possible that if your PC
thinks its in Ireland, the UK or the US then it is
displaying a period instead of a comma. Try under the
Numbers tab and Decimal Symbol, make sure its a comma here
instead of a period. Hope this helps.

Hi

It's determined by your Window's keyboard settings (german?). To change
this, you have to
a) set keyboard to US (or some other similar layout)
or
b) edit your keybrd#.sys file (p.e. for estonian KB keybrd4.sys), replacing
in proper places commas with periods (I'm not sure it works for Windows2000
or WindowsXP at all, but it worked with Windows9x)

My question concerns the comma in the number block on the
right side of the keyboard. the comma is between the 0 and
the enter keys, but I don't think the problem is with the
keyboard. I go to other PC's in the company and some the
comma is a comma and some it is a period (and only in
Excel) This makes me belive that somewere in Excel this
can be changed.

Thank you it was the regional options
