release

On Home Premium I have 4 important/recommended updates.

I have not included usual updates like defender definitions, junkmail
definitions and new drivers. The 4 I mention are actual patches.

1) Problem with phishing filter in IE7
2) Problem with error reporting
3) Problem with activation
4) Problems with application compatibility

There have been a few driver updates over the last couple of months, and the
first batch of OS updates (6) appeared last week.

I've got these:

Update for Windows Vista (KB929685)
Install this update to address an issue that may prevent high-definition
audio devices from initializing after resuming the system from a sleep or
hibernation state. After you install this item, you may have to restart your
computer.

Update for Windows Vista (KB929735)
Install this update to resolve an issue that prevents Windows Search from
returning a complete set of results when a search is performed using the
date option and a non-Gregorian calendar is in use.

Update for Windows Vista (KB928089)
This update resolves a performance issue with the Internet Explorer Phishing
Filter when visiting web pages that contain multiple frames or when multiple
frame navigations occur quickly. After you install this item, you may have
to restart your computer.

Update for Windows Vista (KB929427)
Install this update to address a set of known application compatibility
issues with Windows Vista. After you install this item, you may have to
restart your computer.

Update for Windows Vista (KB931573)
Install this update to resolve an issue where you may be prompted to
activate a pre-installed copy of Windows Vista. After you install this item,
you may have to restart your computer.

Update for Windows Vista (KB930857)
Install this update to fix an issue with Windows Error Reporting that may
cause some information about application errors to be sent to Microsoft
without notifying you. After you install this item, you may have to restart
your computer.

I hope they get some updates for the built in apps soon. Media Centre is
especially bad.

I do not have these two you mention. Maybe they are hardware specific or
specific to certain version of Vista?

I've had some for Office since I opted for wider than Windows itself.

I really don't know about the second one.

VISTA gets updates when you first install it, does it not -- I wonder
if they show up like later ones?

Of course they do (will) show up in the update history, just like in XP.

What do you mean by this post? I was saying that I didn't know if the
update was "hardware specific or
specific to certain version of Vista". And I don't use a non-Gregorian
calendar format.

Since when does "of course" applies to computing? This newsgroup is
full of people finding out it does not.

When people ask questions have the courtesy to answer them politely.

I was giving you the answer to your question -- it depends on you using
two things: advanced search by date and a non-Gregorian calendar -- by
quoting from the opening of the document you gave the link to:

Hello Hugh
I have never searched by date or used a non-Gregorian calendar, and I wasn't
asking a question. I was just saying that I didn't know if the update was
hardware specific or specific to certain version of Vista.

And I was indicating the answer -- your reference KB article does not
mention hardware or specific versions of VISTA but it does mention two
prerequisites which I gave.

But I have never searched by date or used a non-Gregorian calendar, so it
could actually still be hardware specific or specific to certain version of
Vista.

Then the document you referred to is not the answer. I thought you
posed it as such.
