number of pci nics in the same linux firewall?

how many pci nics can you put in the same machine if you run it aa a linux firewall, like
smoothwall?

i need to use 5 nics or is there any better way to do it?

have two different wan and three computers.

(not likeing standalone routers like netgear, d-link any more!! hi network speed. up to
100/100mbps is possible)

Depending on what you're doing, you can use IP aliases instead of physical
NICs.

Intel makes gigabit NICs with 2 and 4 ports per PCI slot.

You are saying you have two non-secure networks; why can't you put
your three computers be on one secure LAN?

Why? do u have an OC48 Wan coming into this FW?

You need 3 NIC's 2 for WAN's and 1 for LAN (computers). If computers need to
be in different subnets use aliases.
