Number and text entries on the same column

Hello,

I am converting excel spread sheet into Access and column
A consists of both numbers and Text. Access either
recognizes the number or the text. Is there any way to
have both in the same column but on diffrent rows?

Tables don't have rows in the way that spreadsheets do; they have records.
The order of the records is irrelevant. Tables resemble spreadsheet, but
function quite differently. For instance, you can't perform a calculation in
a table cell. It would help if I knew more about the numbers and text, but
in general your best choice may be to separate them in the spreadsheet (by
using text functions, or by copying the column and performing a Find and
Replace operation, or something like that), then import the separated values.
