P'se advise how to automatic set the "num lock" in starting the win2000.
I've already set the "num lock" in the BIOS setting, but ended up to be
unsuccessful.
It there a setting in Windows at its start up process? Thanks.

( I got another PC which is able to do so by setting in the BIOS, but this
one doesn't)

For the current user; set numlock to on, then log off. Windows 2000 will
save your setting.

Windows NT/ 2000/XP/2003 ignores the bios on this issue. Set the Reg_Sz
string value of
"InitialKeyboardIndicators"="2"
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard
will set the numlock to "On" when no one is logged on. May need to restart
for effect.
