This isn't really a command prompt question but I'll push
my luck because you lot are so good :))

I was able to protect Windows 2000 computers against null
sessions (anonymous logon threats) by modifying the
registry as described by Microsoft at:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/Q
246/2/61.ASP&NoWebContent=1

My question: This does not protect Windows XP computers -
why? How do I accomplish the same objective with XP?

i'm not quite sure your objective,
but recently i got problem about anonymous network access for NFS
service(SFU)
Finally i found the solution under the GPO:

\Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Security
Option\[Network Access] (section)

hope it can help.

Have you looked at the expanded list of configurable options on XP/WS03 in
the same registry node? Like:
EveryoneIncludesAnonymous
RestrictAnonymous
