Null error in subform

A form for new client’s demographics has a subform for transactions, which
has been used for 6 months, but now shows a pop-up error that says the
“keyfield cannot contain a nullâ€. When a second field is started in the
subform or the subform has lost focus the error message, “keyfield cannot
contain a nullâ€, appears. The keyfield in the form has data entered and the
link child fields and link master fields properties for the subform are the
keyfieldâ€. A keyfield textbox has been added to the subform and the textbox
shows the correct keyfield data when the subform gets focus. Exiting the new
client form gets an error message that the record can not be saved. The table
that is the record source for the new client form has the new client data
just entered, and the table that is the record source for the subform data
does not have the entered data.

Another form which shows existing clients for editing does not have the
error message when editing or adding data in the same transaction subform,
that does have another name. The users are now entering client demographics
in the new client form and switching to the edit form to enter the subform
transaction data.
