Shortly after I log onto the internet I get a small
window that says

This system must shut down by Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
shutdown by NT Authority/System

Can anyone help me to stop this happening please?

It looks like old good "Blaster" worm virus :)

If it is:
In "RUN" write "shutdown -a" (this will buy you time) and then clean your
system from this leach :)
