$NTUninstall files for SP2 that can be deleted

The last post in this forum on this topic was in 2004, and pertained mainly
to SP1. Now that we all have SP2 firmly in place, I would like to know if the
uninstall files for SP2 can also be deleted or not. I did some research on
this, and the general consensus seems to be that they can be safely deleted.
However, there are two files - $xpsp1hfm$ and $hf_mig$ - that seem to leave
some doubt.

Also, another question seemed to pop up quite often... Apparently, some of
the later patches/fixes need to uninstall a few of the previous ones, in
order to be properly installed. Is this true? In that case, removing the
uninstall folders for those hotfixes would cause a problem, right? I suppose
there is a way to identify these hotfixes?

Hoping for a quick reply :)

Don't delete the $hf_mig$ directory as this is a general distribution
release store. The others are hotfix and service pack uninstall routines. If
you're sure you'll never need to back down then you can delete them.

Bert and Dave, thank you both for your replies. You confirmed what I already
knew from reading earlier the same article that Bert suggested. I got
confused because of conflicting stuff I read in some otherfora. Thanks for
clearing it up.

Take care.
