Hi all,

I am receiving the following error on bootup:

Windows root\system32\ntoskrnl.exe not found or
corrupted. Please reinstall a copy of the above file.

Problem is, neither the keyboard or mouse will work. I
have swapped out both input devices, no change.

Machine will not boot from CD either.

Is there anything I can do?

Thanks.

You have to enter set-up to check your bios configuration if plug and play is enabled.Check as well the configuration of the mouse, keyboard, and cd drive.open your PC and make sure the jumper set up master -slave configuration is correctly set.For the ntoskrnl sytem file, you have to copy it from your operating system cd to C:/winnt folder if that is the folder where your operating system is installed. And then reboot.

I am having the same problem all the solutions rely on the fact that
you can use your keyboard or mouse. e.g inserting the recovery CD
which says 'to boot from the recovery cd press any key' but because
the keyboard isnt working it then goes to the hard drive and gives the
error message. The sad thing is I have searched on loads of help sites
and there are alot of people with this problem but there are no
solutions. The other problem is what is the cause, as we may get our
machines up and running to find we get the same problem again in the
future having not resolved the original problem. Please anyone any
ideas???????

I have put on a thread earlier but since then i have got a solution
that worked for me. Remove your mouse and keyboard plugs from the back
of the comp. Then reboot the machine. It should boot up mine did. The
blow out any dust from the keyboard and mouse plugs also clean out the
sockets in the computer. Then put them back in it should work. If it
doesnt trial and error to see which one is causing the problem (either
mouse or keyboard). I hope it works for you. Please let me know if it
does.
