I have windows XP only on my harddrive--never had
anything else-- when I reboot sometimes I get a "ntldr
missing" and can't boot up until I reload XP and lose
everything I have saved because reloading formats my
harddrive. If I have a restore point, and it works, which
is rare I can use recovery genius to roll back to a
previous date.
Is there anything I can do short of shit canning Windows
altogether??

This probably doesn't have anything to do with your
problem. But this message does come up if there's
a disk in the floppy drive. Make sure there's not a disk
in the floppy drive.

Frequent file corruption can be due to bad sectors. Have you tried running
chkdsk /r on your drive to see if there are bad sectors that need to be
repaired? Another thing that can cause file corruption is improper
shutdowns. Is your system always being shutdown correctly?
