NTLDR - serious issue that I can't resolve

Here is my trouble (WinXP Pro)

NTLDR is missing, so I tried to run the recovery console. Once I chose the recovery console, I got the the blue screen saying there was a problem w/my computer and to reboot, so I did and I would keep getting the the same error. So I went to the Net and downloaded floppy boot disks. I was able to finally get to the Recovery console, did what was recommended, but it kept saying the cd was bad or to make sure the correct cd was installed (it was and the cd is fine). Tried this a number of times and NO LUCK. So, could not recover

Finally, decided to throw in a clean harddrive and install any OS just so I could recover the data from the original Harddrive. Even with a clean harddrive and another OS (Win98 SE) in the CD drive, it immediately says NTLDR is missing. I went into the BIOS and changed the Boot Priorities (tried a number of combo's) and I keep getting the same NTLDR is missing. I have unplugged all my devices except the Sound Card, Video Card, Keyboard, and mouse

So this is where I am at. I need help resolving this NTLDR issue. I didn't want to bore you with the details of what led up to the problem in the body of this post, so if that is important, see below

Thanks

Brett
