ntldr problem

I've been running a clean install of XP Pro on an Athlon 950 system
for about a year. Upgraded mobo to ASUS A7N8X-X with Athlon XP 2800
chip and 256mb of PC3200 DDR. But when I started it up, I got the
dreaded "ntldr is missing" message. Have tried all the Microsoft KB
fixes (copy ntldr, ntdetect, etc) but nothing works. Even tried to
reload XP but it says it cannot install to my C drive and I should
delete the partition and create a new one. I don't want to wipe the
drive just yet. BIOS recognizes the drive OK but Windows can't see it.
I even tried a couple of different IDE cables thinking maybe it was
bad. No go.

Help!

This is NOT always true. Windows XP sometimes can't find ntldr no matter
what action you take to repair. Just because you might have left a floppy in
and got ntldr error doesn't mean everyone will. Hopefully in this case
removing the floppy worked for the original poster but it isn't the whole
story.
