I am trying XPe on a regular PC, after I build the image, I just copied to a
drive.
The way to do it is to attach the drive to a computer as a second drive,
then boot the computer, copy all the image to the second drive.
Then made the second drive the only drive, boot up with windows 98 boot
disk, run prepboot /dC.

But when boot the PC it says, NTLDR is missing
I checked the drive which does have ntldr.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

I tried NTFS, and checked the partition is active, but still no luck.
I checked all the files are there.
Have you tried on a regular PC, or you have a embedded board?
Thanks!

My device is an "embedded board" in that it plugs into another device...but
it is also very similar to a PC in that it has IDE controller, VGA port,
etc.

Are you sure that you are set the BIOS to boot off the drive that is
formatted NTFS and has the boot files?

Not sure what else to tell you.
Good luck,
Scott

Greg,

Make sure that the boot.ini on the startup partition points to the correct
drive that you are attempting to boot from. As an alternative switch your
BIOS boot order so that the drive that XPe should be booting from is first
on the list. If you change this and it fixes the problem triple check your
boot.ini to make sure that it is correct.

Greg,

I received your private e-mail but couldn't reply via e-mail... here is my
response....

I am afraid that I didn't do much on the driver side. Basically another

vendor took a basic load of XP Professional and ran the TAP.EXE to capture

all driver information. They then provided my the SLX file that I put into

my component database.

So I didn't have to mess with drivers.

Good luck,

Scott
