NTLDR Missing

Can anyone Help me and my dopey cousin? She has no money and I have at least
enough brain for the two of us, but I make mistakes, also. I posted earlier
the sitation regarding the O/S being replaced and the NTLDR screen being the
only one I can access now. Please help us.

How to do a Clean Install of Windows XP

Start by changing the BIOS setting to Boot from CD drive first.

If you have the WinXP CD then you have to go into the Bios and set the
cdrom drive as first boot device. To get into the bios usually just
pressing the delete key when the computer starts up will get you in. Take a

The other suggestions are worth trying, but bear in mind that this message
often means, "Heeeelp, I can't make sense of the disk structure." rather than
NTLDR (a file with hidden attributes in root of C actually being missing.

I find that a Knoppix boot-CD is a useful tool in such circumstances. In one
recent "NTLDR Missing" job it enabled me to recover nearly 100% of a user's
data when neither XP nor WinPE could read the (NTFS) partition at all.
