NTLDR Missing upon Installation?

This is the first time I'm installing software on my new
computer. When I start it up I get the NTLDR is missing
error message. I've checked the support database but
they're only giving me instructions on how to deal with
the problem when I'm upgrraging from 98 or 2000. Any
suggestions? Thanks...
