So...............what does one do when one's computer won't start on a
Saturday morning, but just shows this little message?
NTLDR is missing

I looked in all the cupboards, but couldn't find it there.

Don't take offence at this, but do you have a non-bootable floppy in the
drive?

I've seen quite a few messages like this one around the groups over
the last few days!

Is there a virus that is deleting or corrupting this file?

This happened to me, I have to wonder about a virus also though Norton found
none ???

dont think its a virus as the computer concerned is not linked to the net and was only just rebuilt...
lost it when i tried to download a version of sims

Posted earlier:
If it is not a forgotten non-system floppy in the floppy drive then it looks
like that the BOOT.INI is not OK
Either the rdisk(x) or, more likely, the partition(x) directive needs to be
realigned

Quickest way to do this is running the Recovery Console from the XP disk and
run a:

BootCFG /Rebuild

Hints:
rdisk() starts with the value 0
partition() however with the value 1
