NTLDR is missing error message appears during boot after
applying the lastest Microsoft Security patch on a Windows
2000 Advanced Server .

How do I correct the problem? I found 1 article that
suggested running a bcupdate2 utility. Will this resolve
my problem? If so, where do I get the utility??

Please help!!!

The boot sector is corupted.

I had this one reciently.

I was attempting to reinstall the OS and somehow damaged the boot sector in
the process.
But I was able to reinstall the OS after many many falures half way through.

However microsoft has a Hotfix for this issue. Call thier customer support
for it. Allthough I didn't use it it may be helpful.

[missed beginning of this thread, so if I'm repeating someone, forgive.]
Or there's a disk in the floppy drive.

I'm not sure how or why but it wouldn't read the bootable CD for some reason
and went right to the NTLDR error.

But after a few attempts at rebooting it started reading the CD and then I
attempted to reinatall Win2K and after several partial and failed attempts
with various errors it finally worked. During this process of attempting to
reinstall Win2K I call Microsoft and they said there was a hotfix with the
Utitlity. The sent it to me within minutes (although the MSCE and I were on
the phone for 30 mins or so while I was reinstall ing the OS) but as soon as
I recieved the file they sent the computer which was failing maraculously
continued and completed the install of Win2K. So i never really tried the
Hotfix.
