goes back to the same screen how do i go about fixing tha
tproblem so i can boot up back into windows?

Thanks

There are several posts in this newsgroup with "NTLDR" in the
subject line. Check those first, then post again if you're still
stuck.

Have you taken the disk out of the floppy drive? Tell us what you have
tried.

K there is no disk in the floppy drive and i have tried
booting from cdrom because some of my friends told me to
run the repair off the cd. i have not tried the win2k boot
up disk as i do not have one.

I was transferring files between 2 hard drives and upon
transferring the computer froze up, so i shut it down by
pressing the power button. When i tried starting it up
again i got the NTDLR is missing.

K no ntldr no cd you're still stuck buy a cd heh

got a new hard-drive for my laptop ... it came loaded with win98. i
tried to uprade to win2kpro and got "ntldr is missing" error. now,
the laptop won't do anything but give me this error. i don't have a
boot disk, either w98 or w2kpro, so am kinda stuck. i have read all
sorts of postings, and visited a great number of sites offering
suggestions and "fixes" for this problem. i even found a few places
that gave me .exe files to create boot disks. well, i *know* how to
make a boot disk, but cannot do so as the machine will not boot. i
have been unable to locate a .exe file that includes "sys.com" so
can't make a boot disk that way, either.

so, any help would be greatly appreciated.

cheers!!

Let's take this in stages. First stage: Make a boot disk for Win2000.
It's completely different from a Win9x boot disk!

- Format a floppy disk on a Win2000 machine. Don't do it on
a Win9x machine - it won't work!
- Copy these files from the i386 folder on the Win2000 CD to A:\
ntldr
ntdetect.com
- Create a file a:\boot.ini with these lines:
[Boot Loader]
Timeout=3
Default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000
Professional" /fastdetect
- Pop this CD into your laptop and boot. What do you get?

Report to this newsgroup when finished, but please start your own
thread - don't just tack your message to end of an existing thread!

By the way - is your Win2000 partition FAT32 or NTFS?
