At start up of Windows 2000 a warning message sais "ntldr is missing". I've
been doing some research on the internet on how to resolve this issue but I
am not confident enough yet to attempt the fix. Could someone describe the
procedure to me.

Thanks

Hi Catana,

One of the first things to check, although it sounds silly, is their a
floppy disk in your floppy drive as this can cause this error.

Let me know ?

I don't understand where to post this question. Is microsoft.public a newsgroup and if so where is it.

thanks.

Right here.

microsoft.public.windowsxp.newusers is where you posted your question.

Hi Catana,

I thought it might be that, its a common cause for that error message, glad
I could help.

Hi Again Catana,

If their is no floppy disk in your floppy drive then read the information
at
the link below, it may be able to assist you further.

I wonder how the computer knows you have a NT based OS when a floppy is
inserted into the drive and the computer is trying to boot from the floppy
first? So if I had Linux installed on my computer and left a floppy in the
drive, do you think I would get the error message "NTLDR is missing"?

I would think you would get an Invalid Boot Disk error message for both
scenarios.
